In between—darkness, silence, secured vista from the passenger seat
Whites, yellows, reds and greens hovered and moved:
Petri dishes of colored light floated down the interstate
Blinking globes of uncertainty.
Sign posts or frozen people? Trees shaped like fairytales.
Stairs more treacherous, shrubs more mysterious
Things visible became invisible. What is normally a walk
from the car to the gym became 1000 tiny steps of faith.
Moving through the morning motions, an alien world
At the sink, mirror, contact case in hand
I slipped the plastic discs into my eyes—
all reverted to a Monday morning yawn
Dipped in memories of dream.

Alessandra, I heart you. I like seeing the world through your eyes, especially since I have 20/20 vision.
